Privacy policy

The short version: this site collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no cookies, no analytics and no advertising network. This page explains what that means in detail, and the one thing that happens outside our control.

Effective 20 August 2026 · last updated 20 August 2026

What this site collects

Nothing. There is no sign-up, no login, no contact form and no newsletter. We do not ask for your name, email address, age or location, and there is nowhere on the site to give them to us.

Specifically, this site does not use:

  • Cookies of any kind — not functional, not preference, not analytics. Nothing this site stores is ever attached to a request or sent to a server.
  • Analytics — no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no server-side analytics
  • Advertising networks, retargeting pixels or conversion trackers
  • Social media embeds, share widgets or like buttons that phone home
  • Session recording, heatmaps or A/B testing tools
  • Fingerprinting of your browser or device

Because nothing is collected, there is no database of users, nothing to breach, nothing to sell and nothing to hand over.

What your browser stores on your own device

Two things are saved locally, on your device only. Neither is sent anywhere.

A copy of the site's files. After your first visit, a service worker stores the pages, stylesheet, script and fonts in your browser's cache so the site loads instantly and works offline. This is a copy of our own public files — it contains no information about you. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

One small value. If you dismiss the notice shown on your first visit, a single item is saved in local storage so it does not appear again. It is described in the next section.

Nothing else. The timer does not remember your last setting between visits, which is the deliberate trade-off for storing almost nothing. Each page simply opens with a sensible default already loaded.

The notice you saw when you arrived

On your first visit a small note appears at the corner of the screen saying that this site sets no cookies. It is a statement, not a consent request — there is nothing to consent to, because nothing is collected. You are not asked to accept or reject anything, and dismissing it changes nothing about how the site behaves.

So that it does not reappear on every page, dismissing it saves a single value in your browser's local storage, under the name mt-notice-seen. Local storage is not a cookie: it is never attached to a request, so it is never transmitted to this site or anyone else. It records one fact — that you closed the notice — and nothing about you.

Clearing your browser's site data removes it, and the notice will appear once more. If your browser blocks storage altogether, the notice simply does not appear rather than following you from page to page.

Third parties: none

Every file this site loads comes from its own domain. The typeface is self-hosted rather than loaded from Google Fonts, so no request for a font reveals your IP address to a third party. There is no CDN, no tag manager, no embedded video and no external script of any kind.

This matters under GDPR: several European regulators have found that loading fonts from a third-party server without consent transmits personal data. That situation cannot arise here, because no third-party server is contacted.

Server logs — the one thing outside our control

Like any website, this one is served by a hosting provider, and hosting providers routinely keep short-lived access logs containing IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs and browser user-agent strings. These logs are created and controlled by the host, not by this site, and are typically used for security and diagnostics before being deleted or rotated.

These logs are the only place any record of your visit exists, and we do not read, analyse or export them. If you want to know exactly what your visit leaves behind, ask us and we will tell you which provider serves the site and point you at their policy.

A small number of pages link out to sources — Wikipedia articles and academic publishers — so you can check the figures quoted. Once you follow such a link, that site's privacy policy applies, not this one. We have no control over what they collect.

Children

This site is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There is nothing here that could constitute collecting data from a child under 13 (COPPA) or under 16 (GDPR), because nothing is collected from anyone.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a service holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to access or erase. Everything else about using the site is covered by the terms and conditions. If you would like to confirm any of this, or have a question about this policy, write to contact@timer-minute.com.

Changes to this policy

If this site ever adds analytics, advertising or any feature that collects data, this page will be updated before that change goes live, and the date below will change with it. There is no mailing list to notify, so the date is the record.
