45 minute timer

Forty-five minutes, the length of a lesson, a lecture or a long focus block.

Shortcuts: space start or pause · R reset · F fullscreen. The alarm rings even if you switch tabs.

In short

A 45 minute timer counts down from 45:00 to zero and sounds an alarm — 2700 seconds in total. This page opens with 45:00 already loaded, so pressing start is the only step, and the length can be changed to anything else without leaving the page. A 45 minute countdown is most often used for school lessons, lectures, and long focus blocks.

  1. Press Start for a straight 45 minute countdown, or edit the boxes first for any other length.
  2. Press F for fullscreen and Esc to come back — handy on a projector or a TV.

  4. The last three seconds beep, then the alarm rings three rising tones and the screen turns red.

What people time for 45 minutes

Forty-five minutes is the standard teaching period across much of the world, and a good ceiling for concentrated work before attention starts to drop.

  • Class periods and tutorials — the classroom timer projects the same countdown
  • Long focus blocks for people who find 25 minutes too short
  • Gym sessions with a hard finish
  • Timed practice papers and essay sections
  • Slow roasts and long proves

If twenty-five minutes always ends just as you are getting somewhere, forty-five is worth trying. The trade is real: longer blocks mean deeper work but a heavier restart cost if you are interrupted, so protect the block before you start it rather than during.

Change the length without leaving the page

Nothing about this page is fixed to 45 minutes. Change the boxes and press Start, or jump to a page that already holds the length you want — useful if you are sharing the link with a class or a team.

Questions about the 45 minute timer

Is 45 minutes better than a Pomodoro?

It depends on the work. Short blocks suit tasks you resist starting; longer blocks suit writing, coding and problem solving, where the first ten minutes are spent loading the problem into your head.

Does it need an internet connection?

Only to load the page the first time. After that the site is cached on your device, so it opens and runs offline, and losing the connection mid-countdown changes nothing.

Do I need to sign up?

No. There are no accounts on this site at all, which also means there is nothing to store about you and nothing to delete later.

Why can I not hear the alarm?

Check that the Sound button reads Sound on, that your device is not on silent, and that the tab is not muted in your browser. Browsers only allow audio after you interact with a page, so the first press of Start is also what switches the sound on.
